Matt Carter Septet / Quartet

The Matt Carter Septet was formed during Matt’s first year at The Royal Academy of music. They play Matt’s arrangements of classic American songbook standards (see below) and Matt’s original compositions, some of which draw from this tradition, and some of which take inspiration from other styles of music as well, such as gospel and folk.

The Matt Carter Quartet was formed while Matt still lived in Exeter, and is one of many collaborations between him and Leigh Coleman. The band recorded a live album at St Ives Jazz club in January 2017, and also featured Tom Drewett on electric bass and Gary Evans on drums.
